rich and i got a puppy! her name is puma possin. we named her after the cat, not the shoes, but who cares. she is the cutest little buddy ever. her last name is obviously after my family. she is great company--especially when rich is studying. we love having her around--even if the house training part isn't that fun. especially since we are on the fifth floor. puma is the cutest little poofy puppy ever!

rich forced me to go to a chicago cubs game... JK. he didn't, and i actually almost got more into the game than he did, which i think surprised him because i can get attention deficit disorder when it comes to watching sports for some reason, especially baseball. it was a way sweet game though. also, there was this really cute old couple behind us that were keeping track of the game with some score card thing, and the little old lady kept singing/saying "go cubbies" and doing this little bootie shake thing. it was hilarious and super cute. so far, chicago is pretty fun, but freezing already! go cubs!

Cruisin' Together for Two Years!

sooo this last year has been pretty busy for rich and me. i was in school all the time, and rich worked two jobs, so that combination equaled us rarely seeing each other. we kept talking about doing something fun to celebrate everything, and after he got into dental school we decided we really needed to do something fun and relaxing before his school started. we were able to schedule a cruise. the cruise was the most perfect thing ever after this year. i did not think i would like it (silly huh!). for real though, i actually thought i would only like our crazy hardcore backpack all over guatemala and belize trips. i thought the cruise would be kinda boring. rich kept saying i would love it. thankfully...he was right! it was such a blast! i could have stayed on the ship for a month. after this last year, i cannot begin to explain how amazing it was to have that time together. the cool thing about going on a cruise is that you are forced to take a vacation. it was soooo amazing. we went to costa maya, roatan, belize city and cozumel. our ship departed from new orleans, so we decided to save money and drive. the drive was long (14 hrs), but we have both never been down south, so it was a crazy cool experience. loved all the states except arkansas. we went on the norwegian spirit. amazing rich somehow got us a sweet FREE upgrade to a room with a window, so every morning we woke up to the beautiful ocean. it was breath taking. we pretty much just hung out on the beach/ocean whenever we ported, but that was perfect. i loved just relaxing with my man on the beach. we went snorkeling a lot and that was fun as long as rich wasn't scaring me about sharks. we also rented a wave runner and explored the ocean. rich scared me on that too. :) i learned i'm becoming a pansy when it comes to sharks/the ocean. the entertainment on the ship was amazing. my favorite was maria and dmitri. they were an acrobatic ballet couple and they did some of the craziest stuff. we loved watching them. they met at age 19 in the russian ballet and fell in love which also added to their magic. i need to mention the food of course. the food was amazing. after eating spaghetti all year, having gourmet lobster, salmon, capers, sushi, salads, fruit, etc...was heaven. it was the most amazingest trip ever. i loved it. thanks rich! ;) xoxo

the moment that i thought would never come finally came...I GRADUATED! yea yaaaa! it was so crazy exciting. graduation day was awesome. it was in omaha. my family and rich's parents were able to come. rich's parents came and spent some time with us before graduation, and that was a great time too (i'll post about that in the future). my graduation from creighton was a lot more exciting than my graduation from byu because this time i get to be a nurse! i'm so grateful that i was able to graduate with my rn-bsn before rich started school. i love nursing and know that this is where i am supposed to be. i will miss everyone that i went to school with so much. i met a lot of amazing people from around the country and learned so much from them. i don't mean to sound all sappy but i also need to say that i am so grateful for the sacrifices that rich made to help me out this last year. i could not have done it without him (fact). he is always so positive, smart and helpful (and handsome). i love everything about him. i am also grateful for the support of my family, family-in-laws, friends, professors and classmates. i have learned so much this last year, and could not be more grateful for graduating. thanks to everyone who helped me. i love you!

I hope you all aren't holding your breath for these blog updates! Lately we both have been very busy, and when we aren't busy, blogging isn't usually too high on the priority list... so we apologize. Perhaps in the future we will keep our blog more up to date!

A few weeks ago, Janelle completed her very last class at Creighton University School of Nursing. Yeah Janelle!!! I can't overstate the amazing job she has done. In only ten months she has finished what is supposed to take 3-4 years to complete... for normal humans. She is now almost halfway through her preceptorship and will be graduating on August 12th.

Then... say hello to Janelle Warnick, R.N.!

We are both excited and I'm especially excited for Janelle and proud of her. She definitely is quite the girl, that's for sure!

As for me, well... things have gotten a bit interesting. As you probably know, I had everything set to start podiatric medical school at Temple University in Philadelphia this fall.

Then on Tuesday I received a phone call:

Voice: "Mr. Warnick, I am calling from the admissions department at Midwestern University School of Dental Medicine. I am calling to let you know that we have reviewed your application and would like to offer you acceptance for the inaugural Class of 2015. Are you still interested?"

(pause)

Me: (lifting chin off ground) "Uh... yeah! Definitely!"

Let me preface. In June of last year I applied to about 12 dental schools. I applied to several because even for a competitive applicant, the number of applicants versus the number of available seats is incredibly small. Think 2000 applicants for 40 seats...

After multiple rejection letters, and not hearing from the few schools remaining, I was pretty sure I wasn't going to be getting into dental school and started looking at other options. I found a local podiatrist and started shadowing him at his practice. I learned that podiatry interested me and I felt like it would be a good fit, so I applied and was accepted shortly thereafter.

Months passed. We were gearing up for podiatry school and I had all but forgotten about dentistry. I definitely was not expecting a school I had applied to over a year ago to call and offer me a spot just six weeks before classes begin, after not hearing anything from them since my interview, which was several months ago.

But... WAHOO!!!! I'll take it. :)

What does it mean? Well, it took us a little while to make our decision, because I had developed an interest in podiatry. But, in the end, my original aspiration won the day. It looks like we won't be heading to Philly next month. Instead, it'll be...

This has all happened really fast, and it's been a lot to take in, but we are both really excited and feel very blessed and grateful.

Spring So Far

i love easter. rich and i kept it low budget this year. i got him some gummy multi-vitamins (ahah he loved them for real), and he got me lavender nail polish. i love the polish and him so much. church was great. i loved all the easter songs. i also liked all the easter posts on facebook. they were touching. i am teaching primary (ages 6-7), and my class is the cutest. i got them all little easter treats. my favorite little boy, sam, got me an easter gift. he says the cutest stuff ever. they are all so adorable. teaching them is the best. after church, rich and i went to the hoyt's for dinner. they are the coolest family. we love them. hopefully we will be able to hang out more this summer during my internship.

rich is working two jobs now which means i never get to see him. BOO! however, i have had a little break from school lately, so i have gone to the hotel with him the last few days. despite sleeping on the floor (rich gets comforters for me), it is awesome being able to finally hang out. rich is a li'l hottie front desk clerk man. i'm a lucky girl.

my finals start this week, sooo i'm not getting super excited about that, but i'm not worried. i'm worried for next semester though. 21 credits in 6 weeks = 100% sucky. however, i cannot wait until my internship. i also cannot wait until we move to philly!!! i cannot wait to go and explore the east coast with rich. hurry up august!

(NOTE: i will not be using capitalization properly in this post and future posts because i think capitalization is stupid and serves little purpose). wow. i don't have a ton of time, so i'm gonna type fast! to start with, i gave rich a hair cut. i was super nervous, but i think it turned out pretty handsomeness. he's even going to let me do it again, i think? valentines day was great. rich got me roses and cooked chicken picatta with green beans. XOXO. i on the other hand couldn't get him anything because first, i was in school all week and had clinicals, and second I didn't have a car the whole week because he always had it. i will make it up next year though. also, rich and i for my spring break went to visit laura and jared, who live an hour from chicago. it was a blast. we love those people. rich and i also went to downtown chicago one of those days and had a fun time. chicago is a cra-Z-y city. note to selves: do not try and find parking in downtown chicago. on our way back, we stopped at the amana colonies. note to selves: the amana are not amish. well, here we are back in little hastings. rich is back at work, and i am delaying writing my research paper on chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder...oh and one other thing about nursing jazz, I started my first IV. i've done six, and missed two. i also found that i LOVE surgery and the med-surg floor and pre-op. surgeons are crazy, especially in the OR room. they really are, but they are smart too, so it makes up for their psychosis. i love clinicals, but hate school. 2.5 semesters left to go, then we will be in philly! YA YEA!

School started again, so I probably won't write till the next semester break, but I am taking a break right now. Rich and I went to MN for Christmas and New Years. It was awesome being able to spend time with family and just relax. We haven't been able to spend that much time with them pretty much since I lived at home. Some activities we did that were definitely awesome were watching Rich beat everyone at ping pong (I had no idea he was a pro--sweat band pro), ice skating, sledding, shoppping with Kristy, cooking, games (we played pretty much any game you can name), movies, shopping at the best mall in the world, Minneapolis Museum of Art, wii and eating tasty food. After we left MN, we came back to Hastings, then headed to UT for a week. It was great seeing Rich's family. We went boarding/skiing twice! Brighton and Sundance. Rich's mom even joined us, and she rocked. We were able to see a whole bunch of friends, and also chill with Mickey at his place of works. I love the holidays and am always sad when they are over. The end.

My beautiful Tushy got married! I love her and Chad, and am so happy for them. Rich and I were not able to make it to their wedding....so sad, but the circumstances couldn't be changed. We were able to make it to their open house in MN, and that was magical seeing her so pretty and gorgeous. Our moms were pregnant with us together, so seeing her married and so happy was the bestest. I hope that our men can become best friends like us...if they can't, then they will just have to learn how to pretend because I would die without that little girl! Congrats to the Knights!

Survivors

I have to admit, I am pretty happy that my brain still works! I haven't given it much time off lately... so I am glad that it hasn't gone on strike! After I got accepted into Creighton's program last April, they told me that I still needed to take a few classes... those classes turned out to be biochemistry, microbiology, nutrition and psychology. HUH?? I enrolled and took 15 credits this summer. Luckily, I survived. Rich had planned a trip for us in between the week break I had, so after I took my last final, we packed up our house (thanks again to everyone that helped) and headed off for Belize and Guatemala the next day. We had a fabulous time (I'll write about that later), then came back and moved to Hastings, NE. The day we arrived in Hastings was the first day of this semester. This last semester has ALSO been crazy. I have taken 18 credits. I recently realized that in 7 months, I have taken 33 credits. WOW. I will be taking 21 credits next semester... what was I thinking??!?!? AHAHHA!?! Oh well. It has been an awesome and challenging experience, and I know Rich and I have grown together because of our experiences. It is funny how much we are capable of when we have faith... and less sleep! :) I am really grateful for Rich's support this year. He is an amazing husband and is a very calming influence for me in my times of homework induced psychosis. I am also grateful for the people I have met in this program. They are fantastic people and I have learned a ton from them. I am also so grateful to be finished with school until January 12th!!! Woo to the hoo! Having this much free time is something I can definitely get used to! Yay for Christmas break.

Wow! So much has happened. I'm definitely not going to blog much this year, but I wanted to write about some great new happenings. Rich got accepted into NYCPM and Temple University's School of Podiatric Medicine! YAYAYAYAAA!!! So happy for him and us!! He got amazing scholarships to both schools, which we were not expecting so that is just a HUGE cherry on top. Rich is 99% sure he will go to Temple. A few reasons why are that it seems to be a little better school - meaning they have a new foot and ankle facility, better residencies, and Rich just liked the feel of the school there, so why not? Also, we both are not sure if we want to live in downtown NYC for four years. Philly seems a better fit for us, and it's close to NYC so we can always visit, plus my bestest Sarah will be in PA soon, and there are other BYU students at Temple too--Rich will have Cougar friends, yaa! Rich also told me that there is a ski resort a couple hours from Temple, SOOO that is a huge big dealio! :) We are so happy about this. We feel super blessed that things have worked out this way, and we are super excited to move to Philly. I'm so happy for Rich. He has worked so hard for this and has taken a lot of hard classes and tests. He is going to be an amazing Doctor, I know for a fact. Congrats baby!

this is our apartment. we live on the top floor. rich did a good job huh? it is the perfect apartment. it is tiny, but super close to the hospital and very cozy.

rich and i go on walks now for entertainment, and we love seeing all the old houses and big tall trees on our walks. hastings is such a quaint little town. i really like it. this is just one house of many really cool houses.

Nebraska Rhymes With Awesome

Hello, loyal readers! It's been awhile since we last posted. Janelle usually does an excellent job of keeping our blog more up to date, but lately we've been pretty busy. I noticed it had been awhile, so I'm attempting to update our blog for the first time.

As most of you know, we moved to Hastings, Nebraska at the end of August. In case you were wondering, we really like it here. Janelle was accepted into an accelerated nursing program that allows her to graduate as a Registered Nurse in just one year! Look above! She's going to make a very beautiful nurse, wouldn't you say? It's a perfect opportunity, because my graduate schooling won't start until next year anyway, so this way we are able to make the most of the meantime.

We are loving Nebraska. I admit, I had reservations about moving here, but this place is actually really nice. The people are very friendly and Hastings is really a quaint and inviting town. Our ward has been very welcoming, and even helped us move in. There's a lake nearby, the State Fair was just down the road in Grand Island, and we even went to a rodeo. They love the Cornhuskers here, and since Nebraska is currently ranked in the Top 10 in the college football standings, everyone is showing their Big Red pride. We just might have to catch a Cornhusker game one of these times. I hear Memorial Stadium is quite the experience and perhaps the toughest place to play in all of college football due to all the crazy loud NE fans.

As for nursing school, Janelle is very busy, but doing wonderfully. She's well on her way and is very excited to be "Nurse Warnick" in less than a year. I get to be her "guinea pig" at times while she practices taking blood pressure, vitals, etc. I'm not particularly looking forward to the IV lesson. I might have to hide during that week. As far as work, I didn't know what to expect when we moved here, but I was able to find a good job in town and have started working, so that is a blessing. The weather has also been excellent and the fall colors are starting to turn.

We want to thank all of our friends and family who helped us with the move, especially my parents for letting us use their horse trailer. You have no idea how much money that saved us. We look forward to seeing you all during the holidays!

DAY ONE: flew into belize city. took a boat to ambergris caye. found a hotel for $40/night. this was a big score because online the hotels were like $160. went to the beach and relaxed. explored the little town.

DAY TWO: took a boat to ambergris caye early in the morning. found another cheap hotel room for $20 (even better!). hung out and explored the island. this island was so cool. i loved it. everyone used golf carts to drive around. we also went to the most amazing restaurant ever: red mangos. so delicious and nutritious.

DAY THREE: woke up. found the least expensive snorkeling trip available and went on a snorkeling trip to "shark ray alley". coolest snorkeling of my life. there were nurse sharks and sting rays EVERYWHERE. i mean everywhere. i was on rich's back most of the time because it freaked my out when the sharks and rays brushed up on me. we also saw eels, a barracuda and a bazillion other amazing fish. again, that was the best snorkeling ever. belize has an awesome barrier reef. definitely want to go back again super bad.

DAY FOUR: woke up early. packed and took a boat back to belize city. then we went to their bus station and paid like $4 for a bus ticket to go to placencia. placencia is pretty much all the way across belize, so this was an amazing deal. however, we had no clue why it was cheap. after the bus ride, i now know why. it was an old school bus (from pleasant grove, ut! funny!), and in these school buses they pack like 3 people per seat, and then people stand in the rows for hours, so it sucks if you don't get a seat. luckily, thanks to rich's fast moves, we got a seat. the other reason why this bus is so cheap is because they pretty much almost kill you. we now call the bus ride to placencia the jungle coaster because it was like a roller coaster--but scarier! imagine this: you are in the middle of the jungle in a bus driving on a single one lane old road with pot holes, and are going up and down hills, passing cars/trucks/semis/other school buses while going up hills, going over broken bridges, and then imagine that this bus is going about 80 mph. i seriously thought we were going to die for the first hour. i just hid my head under the window because i could not watch. i remember reading that the biggest cause of death in belize is traffic accidents, and i now know why. this was a jungle coaster going out of control. after the first hour of the hell ride, i decided that if i was going to die, i wanted to at least have fun, so i finally stopped hiding and just enjoyed the ride with rich. when we go to placencia, we got a hotel room for $15. the prices were seriously amazing.

DAY FIVE: we wanted to go explore the jungle, so we did! it was such a cool trip. we went with this local guy who did tours. i'm glad we went with him because he had a machete. we saw howler monkeys (scariest noise to hear in the jungle), manatees, crocodiles, other monkeys, tons of cool birds and jaguar tracks!

DAY SIX: took a bus to gautemala. the border crossing was super shady, but we eventually got over the border. we then took a bus to this little island called flores and got a hotel for $20. we explored the little island and had lunch, and then went swimming.

DAY SEVEN: we went to tikal. tikal was amazing. it is like the largest mayan archeological site, and the place was amazing. we climbed up so many temples and there were monkeys everywhere too! loved it. got a hotel room for $12. again, the prices were amazingly inexpensive.

DAY EIGHT: took a bus back to belize city and flew home. got home around midnight.

DAY NINE: woke up early, finished packing up our apartment and then drove to omaha, NE. we got into omaha at like 2am.

DAY TEN: woke up at 6am and went to my orientation. rich dropped me off, then drove to hastings to look for an apartment. (we hadn't gotten one yet). he hadn't found one yet, so we got a hotel room. unfortunately, the prices were not as inexpensive as they were in gautemala.

DAY ELEVEN: i went to school and rich found an apartment. i love our apartment. then we moved in! home sweet home! ...we are a little crazy...

You Better Belize It!

So so excited. Rich and I are going to Belize for our anniversary. I cannot wait. Especially after this summer it will be such a nice break. This summer has been hard. I've taken 14 credits (Biochemistry, Microbiology, Psychology and Nutrition) this summer, so I have spent a lot of it indoors. Rich has also been working like 60+ hours per week, so we are both ready for a break, and we will get one soon! August 12-13 we are going with Rich and his parents and extended family to their cabin and going boating. I'm super excited about that, and Rich is too, and then we are going to Belize the next day for a week. We only have to survive finals, working 2 jobs, packing, apartment searching and other stuff, etc. 16 days left. YEA YA!!!!

Rich and I went to Yellowstone with Britt and Marc over the 4th of July weekend. It was rad. Yellowstone was awesome. I haven't been there since I was like thirteen, so it was fun to see it. There were so many animals! Buffalo, "moosen," deer, foxes and we even saw a grizzly bear!

We froze the first night because we were "smart" and only packed one sleeping bag and some blankets. It was 90 degrees in Provo, and we were lazy (we didn't want to drive out to Mapleton and get his bag), so we thought we would be fine. Wrong! It dropped down to 31 degrees the first night....we ended up going to our car and blasting the heat...ahahah. Good times! We now have more experience and two sleeping bags, so we are ready!

Rich and I went fishing with the kids that we mentor in 4-H. It was super fun. Dylan for sure had fun. I hope Alicia did too. She is not a huge out-door fan, but she did try casting a couple times. Rich took us to the Trout Farm or as Dylan called it, "Instafish". It was a cool place because you catch a fish the moment you put your pole in. I love the 4-H program. It is really fun to plan activities with these kids, and it is awesome to get to know them. They are moving in May, but hopefully we can keep up with the program. I will have to find out if Hastings has the same program. Oh, and Dylan told me that John Adams wanted the turkey be the national bird, but they chose the eagle. Rich said it is a good thing we chose the eagle. If we hadn't, most American' would be eating the national bird every Thanksgiving. Dylan and Rich are both pretty smart and funny. :)

Camping + Hiking = Vital Necessity

Rich came and picked me up from work yesterday and told me we were going camping. I had stuff I needed to do at home, so I could have said no, but I didn't, so we went to Zion's! I am soooo glad we went. It was so much fun. We camped overnight at this place called Mosquito something, and then we hiked up to Angel's Landing. That was a crazy scary hike. I liked it, but I feel safer when I have a harness on. It was gorgeous, and so much fun. Things are getting crazy busy this summer, and I know they will only get crazier when I start the accelerated BSN program, but I want to remember to always go camping and hiking. I'm lucky to have Rich. Camping and hiking should be a monthly duty. If not a monthly duty, at least a yearly requirement for humanity. Anyway YAY for Utah and camping and hiking and Angel's Landing and tents and fires and Germans who travel the world.

Rich graduated! I am so proud of him. I never could have finished a bachelors in biology from BYU. His classes were way hard. He is still working towards dental school and is applying in June. He is on Creighton's Dental School waiting list, and a couple other schools too. Rich got sick on the night before he walked though. I felt so bad for him. I woke up at like 3am and heard him throwing up. He did walk, but he went back to bed and was sick for about a week. At least he was able to walk though! Yay for my graduated hus-band!

4-H Mentoring

Rich and I have been mentors for 4-H since October. We love it. I meet with Alicia, and Rich meets with Dylan. Dylan and Alicia are siblings. I love 4-H. I was involved in 4-H when I was younger (horse shows, drawing, etc) and I think it is a great program, so it has been fun to get involved again. They have awesome activities. A few weeks ago, we went up to SLC with a big 4-H group and saw James and the Giant Peach. It was super fun. I love meeting with Alicia. She is so artistic, so I am learning a lot from her. Jazzy Clothes

Rich is so cute. He hates shopping, but he will go with me because he loves me and because he knows that he is my favorite shopping buddy. Usually Rich has no strong preference when I ask for his opinion. His only "strong" remark is "Hmm... I don't know. I don't really like it that much." or "Ya I like it." Normally he just finds a seat and plays on his phone while I shop. BUT today, he came and found me and he was carrying a Utah Jazz shirt. "You need to get this shirt-It's awesome," he said. It was more than I would've spent for a sportsy-shirt, but he carried it with him as I continued to shop. I found some cute jeans that I really wanted, so I said, "well, maybe I just won't get the Jazz shirt". I didn't think Rich would persist on it because he doesn't care about clothes. He obviously cared about that Jazz shirt because I found him later, and he had bought the shirt for me. It was really funny. We ended up getting him one too, and I got my jeans. Boys are funny. I love that he got involved in the shopping--even if it revolved around the jazz shirts.

Rich and I finally got to go snowboarding/skiing together! I was soooo happy. We have been pretty broke and busy because of school and having a job that should pay more, but we finally made it to Sundance. It was nothing compared to Snowbird, but it was a lot cheaper. However, it was way better than Buck Hill. Haha. It was so much fun. I love being up in the mountains. It is so gorgeous up there. Rich kept hitting the moguls which was a definite NO for snowboarders, but it was fun watching him speed down them like a crazy kid. Always wear helmets. :) I am still working on my 360. I loved snowboarding and am so happy we finally got to go. If we are near mountains next winter, we are getting season passes for sure. Bye!

YAY!!! Rich and I finally got to go see Mickey in Idaho. This is his final season playing hockey, so we went to see him play. There were two awesome things that happened. The first thing was that everyone prayed before the game started. I loved that. It was so cool to see these big hockey players all praying together. The second awesome thing was that Mike got put in the penalty box. That was pretty funny and awesome. K well I hope you enjoy the picture. It was so cool to be there and watch Mike play. He is the coolest brother. I love him. He's probably not ever going to read this, so I'll just say that I am so lucky to have him as an older brother. He is an awesome person.

I love my sisters. We are all so different from each other, but I love that about us. I love how Amy is the amazing chef, and I am the sports one, and Laura is the amazing clogger, and Ashley is the amazing pianist, and Michelle is the amazing singer, and Kristy is the amazing entertainer and the baby of the family. We are all different, but then so similiar. It's crazy. I love going home because we know what we are thinking without even saying a word, and we all love talking about the same things, or we at least enjoy hearing each other talk about things, so it is great! I think it is because we are all random versions of my mommy. I love her too.

iCE SKATiNG

In MinnesoOoOoda, babies learn how to skate before they can walk, so naturally I grew up taking ice skating lessons and thinking Tara Lapinski was the most amazing person in the world. I loved it until I turned about thirteen and decided it wasn't cool anymore, but I am over that phase now, and I love it again. Rich and I gotta go skating with his fam and it was so much fun! However, UT ice skating sucks. It sucks because there are millions of people on the ice. It also sucks because they only have one indoor ice rink in UT. Minnesota people would be apalled and shocked. FACT: In MN, every town with a population of 100 has at AT LEAST two out door ice rinks. When a town is about 5,000, that requires two indoor ice rinks AND at least ten or fifty out door ice rinks. UT has 1 indoor ice rink. Sucky. It also sucks because people don't know how to skate here. Bad skaters + crowded rink=DANGER.

Despite the danger, it was still way fun. Rich continues to amaze me with his roller and ice skating skills. He catches on pretty well and was almost cruisin' as sweetly as me. :-) I love ice skating regardless of the rink, BUT I am definitely excited to go skating at MN's high-class, professional skaters only, wonderful, non-crowded and MAGiCAL iCE RiNKS. Sucks for UT.

I love Christmas the most!!! Rich and I decorated our apartment, and I loved everything about it. It was our first time decorating for Christmas, so it was super magical. I think it turned out really cute. We wanted to get a fresh tree, but didn't have the money or the room, so Kelly (Rich's dad) gave us a cute little fake tree he had in his basement. Rich and I each got an ornament every Christmas that usually represented something about us that year. I want to do that with my kids too. I love my ornaments, and I love Christmas. Merry Christmas!!!

Fourth Thursday of November

I love thanksgiving. I loved thanksgivings in MN. My family would always get together with the Woodwards (our super close friends-pretty much family). They or we would usually drive down or up on Wednesday night. On Wednesday, we would start playing and preparing. We would usually make a ton of pies because we always had a lot of people who would stay with us till Sunday and because we LOVE pie! I loved it. Scott and Amy would usually dominate in the kitchen while the rest of us would wander in occasionally to help, talk and/or eat. Then we would always play board games-usually Risk, and the girls were usually plotted against and taken out in the first rolls, but it is ok--it was fun watching Jimmy, Craig, Tom, Steven, Mike, Brent and our dad's all get ridiculously competitive. Then thanksgiving day was great--of course. If it was warm we usually played football and played more games and ate way too much food. Anyway--that is memory lane. It was great, and I love those memories.

This year was great too! My amazing brother, Mike, drove down here and celebrated with us! He stayed with Rich and I from mon-sun. It was a blast!!! We miss him. : ) The night before Thanksgiving, we decided we needed to keep up the pie tradition, so we made seven pies! It was crazy, I know, but it was fun making them. Besides my apple pie, I'd never made any other pie so it was a very educational experience for all of us. Word of advice: if when making french silk pie, your sugar is still grainy after mixing it with chocolate and stuff, don't keep mixing it for thirty minutes. It will remain grainy. Wastes LOTS of time.

On Thanksgiving morning, I went running. Of course. Then we all went to Rich's place in Mapleton. We played football! Rich was amazing. I'm not lying. He has a great throw/spiral thing. I love watching him play. Then we ate yummy food. Then we watched a little football and all fell asleep. Then we ate pies! Kathy had made two herself, so we had nine! Way too many. We ate maybe one. Later that night we stopped at the Krebs (my cousin's) and played some games with them. It was a spectacular day. I love the holidays!

It's 17 for 23, so we will definitely stay here. Overall, I LOVE our apartment, and I don't think it could be more perfect.

As Easy as Apple 3.14159...

Rich and I were given a TON of apples, so after eating 3 apples a day for the past week and still having four hundred left--I decided I wanted to make apple pie. We invited Rach, Ken and his parents to have it with us before we made it. They showed up and found us standing on our brown sugar/cinnamon covered floor and staring at a ball of dough that had been rolled out about seven times on our counter. We found out that making a pie crust from scratch requires shortening and skill--both of which we didn't have. The pie making process was really messy and it took us forever, but the pie actually tasted yummy. For real. My mom would be impressed.

HoNeY mOOn HiGHLiGHtS

Our honeymoon was the most fabulous trip ever. I was ridiculously sad the day we had to leave. Rich kept the honeymoon location a secret until we got to the airport. At the airport I found out we were flying to Atlanta, then I found out we were flying to Puerto Rico. We played guessing games a lot. When we got to Puerto Rico I found out we were going to make St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands our honeymoon home! It was so AMAZING and pretty. Pictures and words don’t give our island justice. I was so giddy. Our hotel was awesome too. Rich is so wonderful. :) We stayed at the Marriot Frenchman’s Reef condo. It was brand new and super gorgeous. Our condo was right next to the ocean, and we were on like the 12^th floor, so the view was spectacular. Our balcony overlooked the sunset over the ocean. Everything was amazing. SOO every day was pretty much the same wonderful thing—exploring the island, snorkeling, doing whatever we wanted, swimming, eating, being together, Rich being funny, heaven on earth, etc. Haha :) I won’t write out every day’s detail because that would be ridiculous, but here are twenty five highlights:

1. Going to Tavern on the Waterfront for Rich’s 25th birthday dinner. He loves seafood and is awesome at the saxophone, so I found a restaurant that had a live jazz band and seafood. How thoughtful am I? Rich wanted to try mussels, oysters, snails, clams, squid, and other stuff I don’t even know what it was, so we got a sampler plate thing. I liked the squid and mussels—I think.. We both like lobster and shrimp the bestest though. Thanks to all of you who gave us Red Lobster gift cards! Awesome present!
2. Renting a scooter for the week—we named it Serendipity.
3. Our scooter helmets.
4. Going to St. Johns and snorkeling at trunk bay—rated one of the top ten beaches in the world.
5. Buying a calypso CD titled You Pan You Own and blaring it in our room.
6. Walking on the beach at midnight
7. Going to El Market and buying expensive but cheap food—like beans that were $3, and macaroni that was $2, and popcorn that was 2/$3 and milk that was $6 per gallon. Food was ridiculously expensive.
8. Getting stuck at a middle school for three hours while all the water in the world seemed to come pouring down on our island.
9. Watching Jaws
10. Hearing all of the islanders constantly screaming at each other—but in a friendly way.
11. My silver bracelet that had the gem of Caribbean in it that Rich got me. :)
12. Going to Woody’s and eating at a table that Kenny Chesney and Mick Jagger frequently eat at.
13. Rich not getting burned!
14. Working out at the club’s gym
15. The humidity! Oh my heck…
16. Exploring the island on our scooter and always telling Rich to slow down
17. Shopping at the market place and bartering
18. Having islanders stopping us and informing us about local laws that weren’t really laws..haha

20. Watching people try and back their vehicle onto a cargo boat that took us to St. Johns. Some people should not be allowed to drive…
21. Going to our vacation club’s karaoke night and watching lots of people try to sing, and watching one guy try and get Rich to sing. I’m still bummed he didn’t get up and sing to me... :p
22. Finding an iguana chillin’ under my beach chair.
23. Snorkeling for like three hours straight. I love snorkeling!
24. Flying in on a tiny little plane that didn’t have any AC
25. Cuddling :)

Vacations are sooo awesome. I think there should be a law where everyone MUST go on at least a two week vacation every year. I also think that there should be a law that honeymoons must be a month long. :) K Bye!

OUR VERY FIRST MAGICAL POST!

Hi bloggers! Now that Rich and I are starting our life together, we thought we should start a blog, and from what I read and hear from EVERYONE, I guess it is an awesome, mature thing to do, so here we are! I’ve never blogged before though—so bear with me. Soon I will be a professional bloggist. :) I’ll probably be the primary blogger on here, but I’ll try and get Rich to bloggity blog blog blog on here too.

To begin with, my name is Janelle Warnick. It was Janelle Possin. Now my last name is a lot easier to say and spell for most people. Warnick. Like War and Nick. I am no longer a Possum. Sorry Jess and Christine. Haha. :) I changed my name on August 22^nd, 2009 because I married the most wonderful person in the world—Richard Warnick (I usually call him Rich). Rich and I met three years ago. He was roomies with my cousin. Our dating years were awesome. I’m really glad we had time to get to know each other and have the experiences that we did. We broke up for a while, but when we got back together—Rich proposed a month later while we were in Germany with his family, at the Neuschwanstein castle. I was COMPLETELY surprised because we had not gone ring shopping. We were in Germany together, but he wasn’t even really referring to me as his girlfriend, and he had NEVER brought up marriage since we’d gotten back together after our breakup. I guess he really wanted to surprise me, and he did! It was perfect. I said yes and cried.

Our engagement was short. Only three months, but once I had a ring on my finger—I just wanted to be married so we made it work. Wedding plans were crazy! My mom flew out and we went wedding dress shopping. That was so much fun. I love my mom. We are so different yet so alike. We found the perfect dress and figured most of the other stuff out. Rich’s family helped a ton with the wedding too. I have the most awesome in-laws in the world. With a ton of help and planning, our wedding was perfect.

The day went by so fast! I couldn’t fall asleep the night before, but my mom said she couldn’t sleep either. I finally fell asleep around three. I woke up at seven to get ready then drove to Manti to get married! We got married at 11:00am in the Manti temple. It was such an amazing experience. It was a perfect day. I can’t really put the sealing into words, but it was beautiful. I am so happy that Rich is my husband. He is my best friend, and I am excited and so thankful that I can spend the rest of my life with him. Rich and I were so grateful for how many people showed up. It was so awesome having our close friends and families there. After the sealing, we took pictures, and then we had a luncheon at the Manti House Inn. The food was delicious. Everyone had chicken, except me. I had salmon. After the luncheon, we went back and had our reception. It was amazing. There were so many people that helped with putting everything together. It was a gorgeous reception, but it went by way too fast. It was the best day of my life.

This next part is pretty sappy, but I wanted to write my feelings out, so read at your own risk.

Getting married is the best thing that anyone could do. I remember looking into Richard’s eyes on our wedding day and feeling so happy and thankful. It is so amazing being married to my best friend. I always loved everything about Rich, but getting married just deepened those feelings. I love knowing that we will be together forever. Songs describe my feelings better than I can describe them, and that song by Kenny Chesney, “Me and You” describe my feelings perfectly:

We are loving married life. Everyone always asks me how I like married life, and the answer is that it is perfect and it is the best thing that ever happened to me. Being married is so much more real and fulfilling than dating. I knew it would be different, but I never thought it would be this amazing. I am so blessed to have Rich and the friends and the family that I have in my life. Life is wonderful. The end....or the beginning. :)
